Why it matters in practice
Private resolution helps services find internal resources without publishing every name in public DNS. Administrators need to consider who can query the server, which upstreams receive forwarded questions, and how records are maintained. Private DNS does not mean queries are automatically encrypted or individually authenticated.
Example
A service inside a test network asks its configured resolver for an internal service name that is not published in public DNS.
